Tilia Botanicals is Your Centre for Herbal Learning

Tilia is pleased to be able to offer fun & educational classes and special events in many aspects of the herbal culture. Classes include topics such as how to make herbal remedies; growing herbs; plant ID and harvest wild plants;  aromatherapy, making soap and personal care items; how to cook with herbs, and wild food foraging. We have even offered summer camps for kids! Our teachers are all experts in their field and joyfully share their passion for plants and natural health with event participants.

At Tilia we absolutely love sharing our passion for herbs, healthy living, creativity and more.  Our list of classes over the years continues to grow as we try to offer something for everyone.  Whether you are interested in making your own natural cosmetics or home remedies, identifying healing plants in the wild, gardening, or even want to get your young ones learning about nature we are happy to help! Relax, Refresh, Revive:

 

Isn't it time for you to practice a little self-care and have some “me” time? This fun class is a perfect way to practice your self-pampering skills. Enjoy some tea and scones while you learn to make wonderful herbal teas, baths, facials and aromatherapy blends specially designed to relax, refresh and revive you! Be your own Valentine and pamper yourself with a fully rejuvenating experience or bring a friend and save 10%.

All supplies are included. Please bring a towel with you and wear casual clothing suitable for having a facial in.

Wild Food Foraging    

Spring is here and with it an abundance of wonderful wild edibles you can harvest to add to culinary creations. Wild Food Foraging. We are thrilled to have Stephanie Howes of Cedar & Sage Pantry leading this class. and She will share the many ways that these plants have been used historically for food and the best times to harvest them.

 

DATE: Saturday April 27/24   9:30am – 12:30pm

INSTRUCTORS:  Stephanie Howes of Cedar & Sage Pantry will be leading this class and she brings experience and enthusiasm in plant outdoor activities and harvesting to all that she does. Her business, Cedar & Sage Pantry, makes convenient health food products out of the abundance of local agriculture here in the Creston Valley. Soap Making

In this fun and informative class you will learn how to make your very own handcrafted soap bars.  We will demonstrate all the proper techniques for successful soap making including all the important troubleshooting tips.  Participants will leave with their own bar of soap that we've made in class as well as a kit to take home so they can get started on their own soap making adventures!
 

DATE: Wednesday, April 3/24 6 pm to 9 pm

INSTRUCTOR: Medical Herbalist, Rachel Beck has been making handcrafted soap for over 30 years and is the creative force behind Tilia's wonderful soap collection.  In all workshops she creates a captivating and fun environment for you to truly enjoy learning a new skill.

Weeds to the Rescue - Medicine from your backyard

 

Do you curse the dandelions, chickweed and plantain that grow in your garden? Do you spend hours trying to rid yourself of burdock and thistles? If you do, then you are ridding yourself of valuable healing plants. Join medical herbalist Rachel Beck as she helps you to learn about the nutritional and medicinal value of the weeds and common plants that grow in most backyards and how you can use them to create your own natural medicine chest.

Egg Dyeing for Kids:

 

In this hands-on class your kids will learn how to dye their own Easter eggs using plant materials. They'll get creative using plants and other common household materials to make fun designs.  Full instructions will be included so you can repeat the process of natural egg dyeing at home for Easter holidays to come!

 

DATE: Saturday, April 1/23

Ages 5 - 7  9:00 am – noon      Ages 8 - 12   1:00 pm - 4:00 pm 

 

COST: $30 + GST

 

INSTRUCTOR:

Jessica Shearer is a Medical Herbalist and has been involved in children's programs for over 10 years.  She is the coordinator for our successful Kids' Camp and loves to develop activities to create interest and excitement when learning about plants.

Cancellation Policy: Our instructors put a great deal of work into preparing our classes so that you have an amazing learning experience. Because of this our classes are popular and it is not unusual for us to having waiting lists for our classes. In an effort to be fair to everyone we have created a cancellation policy that we believe recognizes our instructors’ efforts while respecting the reality that sometimes you need to cancel after you register.

 

If you cancel at least 7 days prior to the class you will receive a full refund less a 5% administration fee.

 

If you cancel between 6 days and 48 hours prior to the class you will receive a 50% refund.

 

If you cancel with less than 48 hours’ notice or if a course has already started there is no refund.
