Tilia Botanicals is Your Centre for Herbal Learning
Tilia is pleased to be able to offer fun & educational classes and special events in many aspects of the herbal culture. Classes include topics such as how to make herbal remedies; growing herbs; plant ID and harvest wild plants; aromatherapy, making soap and personal care items; how to cook with herbs, and wild food foraging. We have even offered summer camps for kids! Our teachers are all experts in their field and joyfully share their passion for plants and natural health with event participants.

"Autumn Herbal Apprentice Workshop"
Join us at Tilia Botanicals for an incredibly fun and informative workshop where you get to be an herbal apprentice for a day!
The morning will see you out herb gathering , where you will learn about a range of plants and how best to harvest them. You’ll bring your herbal harvest back to our classroom where we will share more about the plants you have harvested and help you to create lots of your own natural remedies. And, of course, yummy herbal treats are included!

INSTRUCTORS: Tilia's Medical Herbalist Rachel Beck and the rest of the team from Tilia will be working together to share their knowledge with participants and to create a fun experience for everyone involved.

"Herbal Kids"
We are so excited to once again be holding this class at the Creston Museum and to harvest from their beautiful herb garden and grounds! Our budding herbalists will gather plants, learn about herbs and participate in making fun herbal remedies. From making elderberry gummies to rosehip salve , your little ones will have a fun filled time exploring the wonderful world of herbs!
DATE: Saturday, September 20/25
Classes are broken into two age groups: 5 to 7 years old (9:30 a.m. - noon) and 8 to 12 years old (1 – 3:30 p.m.).
COST: $39 + GST per child. If additional children from the same family wish to attend the cost is $20 for each additional child. INSTRUCTORS: Courtney Palmer, Production Manager at Tilia, and Brenda Oler, who is a team member at both Tilia and the Creston Museum will be leading the class. They love working with kids and sharing the many uses of plants with them. They are committed to creating a fun experience for everyone involved.
Soap Making Class
Have you ever wanted to learn how to make your own beautiful soap bars?
Then join us at Tilia Botanicals and get started. In this fun and informative class, you will learn how to make your very own handcrafted soap bars (in time to give as Christmas gifts!). We’ll teach you all the proper techniques for successful soap making including all the important troubleshooting tips. You will leave with your own bar of soap that we've made in class as well as a kit to take home so you can get started on your own soap making adventures.
DATE: Wednesday, October 29/25 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm
COST: $89 + GST (includes full soap making kit)
INSTRUCTORS: Medical Herbalist, Rachel Beck has been making handcrafted soap for over 35 years and is the creative force behind Tilia's wonderful soap collection. In all workshops she creates a captivating and fun environment for you to truly enjoy learning a new skill.
Mommy & Me Workshop
Create Your Own Aromatherapy Bracelet and Essential Oil Blend
Tilia Botanicals and Happy Camper Malas will be team teaching this fun and creative workshop designed just for parents and their kids ages 5+. In the workshop they'll learn about the most popular essential oils that they can use with the gem & lava bead bracelet that they’ll create during the class. By the end of the class each participant will be leaving with their own custom essential oil blend along with their handmade aromatherapy bracelet.
DATE: Saturday November 8/25 from 9:30 AM - Noon
COST: $79 + GST (Essential Oil Blend and Mala Bracelet Included for each person) Cost is for 1 parent and 1 child (Ages 5+). Additional children from the same family $15 each. INSTRUCTORS: Courtney Palmer is the Production Manager at Tilia and a huge fan of blending essential oils and helping people to create their own special essential oil blend. Janina Gough is the owner of Happy Camper Malas and creates beautiful gemstone bracelets, earrings, hair clips and more with the inspiration of nature and wellness in each of her creations.

Cancellation Policy: Our instructors put a great deal of work into preparing our classes so that you have an amazing learning experience. Because of this our classes are popular and it is not unusual for us to having waiting lists for our classes. In an effort to be fair to everyone we have created a cancellation policy that we believe recognizes our instructors’ efforts while respecting the reality that sometimes you need to cancel after you register.
If you cancel at least 7 days prior to the class you will receive a full refund less a 5% administration fee.
If you cancel between 6 days and 48 hours prior to the class you will receive a 50% refund.
If you cancel with less than 48 hours’ notice or if a course has already started there is no refund.
